If you don't know... Isabel Adomakoh Young
… let me introduce you!
Isabel Adomakoh Young is an actor, writer and activist. She regularly performs at with Pecs, an all-female/non-binary Drag King troupe who create shows for the LGBTQ+ community (I’m a HUGE fan) and Shotgun Carousel, a London-based, female led production company and performance collective.
She’s a founding director of Brainchild, a multidisciplinary summer festival which launched in 2012, blurring the boundaries between artist and audience in a sponsorship-free environment. This year, as a result of Covid-19, the festival moved online. Donate to keep ‘em going here.
As an actor she’s worked with the RSC, National Youth Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, and Talawa Theatre Co among others, and was meant to be on tour with Theatre Clwyd this past spring.
“Adomakoh Young gives a mightily strong performance... infuses Lady Macbeth with humanity. ” – a younger theatre
An enthusiastically intersectional feminist, she can be found representing 5050 Parliament and other campaigns for equality and diversity, as well as speaking to and writing for collectives and publications including the BBC, The Guardian, Vice, i-D, Time Out, Gal-Dem, Huffington Post, The Debrief, 5x15, HOAX, No Fly on The Wall, Black Blossoms and Ladybeard Magazine.
