Joan Iyiola is an actress, writer, producer and changemaker in the industry.
As an actress, Joan’s credits span film, television and theatre including roles in ENTERPRICE (BBC), BLACK EARTH RISING (BBC/NETFLIX), in TREE (Young Vic,Kwame Kwei-Armah and Idris Elba) and as THE DUCHESS in THE DUCHESS OF MALFI for The Royal Shakespeare Company. Joan recently starred in independent film DON’T COME HERE, which is due for release later this year.
Joan co-founded Apatan Productions, a Film and TV Production Company based in London in 2018, to create and produce stories from the black experience. Joan co-wrote, produced and starred in DỌLÁPỌ̀ IS FINE, which was shot under Bumble’s Female Film Force, and is now enjoying a healthy film festival run, having just been selected for the HBO short film competition at ABFF. Joan is currently working on a TV series, in development with Maia Pictures.
As co-founder of Mono Box, she is responsible for creating an unrivalled support network and creative training hub for emerging artists. Mono Box provides low cost and free opportunities to artists in the UK and remote events that can digitally traverse the globe.
