If you don't know...Holly Khan
…Let me introduce you!
Holly Khan is a half Guyanese half British multi-instrumentalist, composer and music facilitator, based in London. She works first and foremost for, by and with communities.
“I believe music infiltrates us in a different way to other artforms. It penetrates right past our conscious thinking and that’s what I’m most interested in, how we listen to, play and feel music.” - Holly speaking to Create Arts as part of their Nurturing Talent programme 2019-2020.
As a facilitator, she works with award winning charities and arts organisations for individuals and groups at all stages of life, with a particular focus on engaging with vulnerable members of the community. She is currently a Trustee & Facilitator at Create, Associate Artist & Music Facilitator at Fairbeats, Vocal & Music Facilitator at Dream Arts, and Artist in Residence & Workshop Leader at Ark Music. Previously she has led workshops for NHS, Core Arts, Queensmill School and more.
As a composer and multi-instrumentalist, her recent works include Kaleidoscope (Filskit Theatre, Oxford Playhouse & The Spring), Lighting in May (dir. Emma Baggott, Mercury Theatre), Ticker (dir. Derek Anerson, The Bunker Theatre, Theatre 503, & Underbelly) & The Artist (Filskit Theatre, New Theatre Royal Portsmouth & Stratford Circus.) More of her compositions have featured at Royal Albert Hall, London, Summerhall, Edinburgh & Theatre De Menilmontant, Paris.
She is also one half of For Frida - a pop/folk acoustic, all female band established in 2014, and based in London. They combine poetic song writing with strings and harmonies to create eclectic songs.
She’s also organised the ONE BOX: Music campaign, which sends boxes filled with musical instruments to 50 siblings of SEND children by Easter 2021. It is very near it’s target - so please consider donating to this amazing cause.
